General Hospital spoilers for December 5, 2023, tease more drama for Ava in the wake of Austin’s murder. Next on her agenda: a fierce face-off with Cyrus Renault.
Ava’s (Maura West) problems (read why here) haven’t lessened since Austin’s (Roger Howarth) murder, if anything, they’ve multiplied. After all, somebody out there sent her a mysterious letter and thinks she needs to be grateful the guy’s gone. After confessing her Austin-and-Nikolas (Adam Huss)-related secrets to Nina (Cynthia Watros), she made the poor choice of burning up the image of the doctor’s dead body with the “You’re Welcome” message written on it. Will that decision come back to bite her in the you-know-what?
Unfortunately, for Ava, there’s no rest for the weary or for those in need of a seriously strong dirty martini. The former mafia queen is about to confront the man potentially responsible for Dr. Gatlin-Holt’s demise. Her quest for the truth as well as her urge to get the stink of suspicion off of her, means she has to exchange words with Cyrus (Jeff Kober). Hopefully, the ex-con’s good behavior kick he’s on won’t last much longer, and this face-off between Ava and Cyrus will reach high-intensity levels. Without a doubt, that’s when Ava’s at her best and most devastating.
Curtis (Donnell Turner) has a new purpose to his life now that he’s investigating his shooting. He really wants to know why he ended up collateral damage. Previously, he enlisted Jordan (Tanisha Harper) and Nina’s help with this mission. Naturally, his next stop is Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard). After all, Sonny may be one of the reasons he’s sitting in a wheelchair since everybody thinks either he or Anna (Finola Hughes) were the target. Will Sonny have answers to Curtis’s questions? Once this conversation is over, will Curtis have any leads to follow?

Meanwhile, Detective Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) is working his own angles and shares a discovery with Sam (Kelly Monaco). Currently, his main focus is Austin’s murder, but will this discovery have to do with another case? And will Sam’s instincts and advice help Dante see things from a different perspective?
Apparently, one of Laura’s (Genie Francis) recent jobs — other than being mayor of Port Charles, of course — is to make sure Esme (Avery Pohl) remains on the straight and narrow path. Once again, she’s reassuring the memory-challenged young lady. It’s conceivable this is either about validating Esme’s maternal skills or her choice to move out of Laura’s penthouse and into her own place with Ace (Jay and Joey Clay).
Finally, Kristina (Kate Mansi) and Blaze (Jacqueline Grace Lopez) are moving along at a pace that could be considered a slow burn. They recently shared Thanksgiving together, and now Blaze is set to open up to Kristina even more. Is Kristina about to learn more about Blaze’s origin story? Does this potential bonding moment have to do with Kristina maybe telling Blaze about her offer to be a surrogate to her sister?
