Sonny’s Guilt Can’t Be Contained On General Hospital

Sonny’s slow meltdown into madness is almost complete when he arrives at Morgan’s funeral on General Hospital.

While Jason (Billy Miller) rushes to prove Sonny’s henchman did call off the hit and someone else planted that bomb, Sonny’s guilt gets the best of him and he confesses all with the police as witness.

According to the November 21 issue of Soap Opera Digest, Sonny needs to cleanse his soul, and it’s a race to see if he will end his entire existence after confessing.

Actor Maurice Benard said he didn’t prepare for a scene this much in nearly two decades.

“I personalized every line, and I guess when I did the homework, I personalized everything. It just started hitting me–maybe a little too much,” he told Digest. “I don’t think I ever felt that way as an actor, and I couldn’t control my feelings or my tears–anything.”

Even if Jason does find the evidence he’s looking for, Sonny’s guilt will remain.

“No matter what the final outcome is, his own lifestyle, his own violent past, contributed in some way to the tragic results that resulted in Morgan’s death,” Co-Head Writer Shelly Altman told Digest. “He won’t just let himself off the hook. This is something he has to live with and deal with.”

Something tells us Jason will learn a shocking truth, but the blatant truth Sonny already knows. After all the years, all the near-misses, and even believing Michael was dead at one point because of him, Sonny finally knows what his life truly means.
