For a show set in a hospital, supposedly about the lives of doctors and nurses, does it seem like there might be a little too much crime (and not enough punishment) on General Hospital (GH)?
Does Sonny (Maurice Benard) have his finger in way too many Port Charles pies these days (when he’s not extorting money for coffee from Julian)?
There’s his story with Carly (Laura Wright) in the loony bin, which ties into Nelle (Chloe Lanier) and Michael (Chad Duell). There’s his story with Mike (Max Gail) and his dementia, which leads to the body Sonny once buried. Which Mike reburied. And lost track of.
Plus, Sonny is involved in Jason’s (Steve Burton) life, which means Sam’s (Kelly Monaco), too. And Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) is unpacking her terrible relationships with men, with Sonny playing a supporting, if not lead, role.
Sonny has advice for Joss (Eden McCoy), and threats for Julian (Willaim deVry) heck, it’s amazing he’s not the one carrying Brad (Parry Shen) and Lucas’ (Ryan Carnes) baby!

Sonny Days Are Here To Stay
There can never be too much Sonny, 53% of you fervently swear. In fact, if you had your way, he’d turn out to be Anna’s (Finola Hughes) long-missing son (maybe Henrik’s twin?), Drew’s (Billy Miller) old Navy buddy, the mystery patient tapping out SOS to Carly, and, heck, even the body Mike reburied!
Turn Down the Sonny
Enough is enough, 47% of the audience pleads, can we move Sonny, if not to the back-burner, at least to ONE burner? Maybe if Sonny focused just on say, Carly, he could actually help his wife out of her current predicament, instead of spreading himself so thin that he really isn’t being helpful to anyone at the moment.
General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
