The outlandishness of Sonny’s tending bar at The Tan-o pub on General Hospital has started to lose its steam and appeal. While it was initially entertaining to see the former mob boss turned kindly amnesiac “Mike” in a new atmosphere, it now pales in comparison to what’s going on with his “real” life back in Port Charles.
Jason’s (Steve Burton) on the run from bogus murder charges, Cyrus (Jeff Kober) and Peter (Wes Ramsey) are running dangerously amok, and Carly (Laura Wright) has taken over as head of the Corinthos crime family. That’s why Sonny needs to return home, sooner than later. And when he does, these are five moments we can’t wait to see.
Carson Reunion
They’ll be no one happier to see Sonny (Maurice Benard) than his wife, Carly. She’s stepped up during his absence, holding their personal and mob family together. Sure, she’s tough as nails, but she never signed up for any of this. Plus, she’s desperately missing her soul mate. We can’t wait to see the moment she lays eye on her very much-alive husband, runs into his arms, and welcomes him home, knowing she’s got the man she loves back and will be able to step away from the mad high-pressured life she’s been living.
Carly-Nina Showdown
Imagine the moment Carly finds out Nina (Cynthia Watros) knew Sonny was alive for months and said nothing about it to anyone. Then imagine Carly tracking down Nina and confronting her about her heinous actions. It’s going to be the face-off of the year and between two of the soap’s finest, most powerful actresses. We’re expecting yelling, accusations, and, hopefully, Carly hauling off and slapping her nemesis hard. Hell, Nina totally deserves it.
“Brothers” Reunited
Jason took his boss and best buddy’s death as hard as anyone. So when the twosome reconnects, it’s going to be must-watch TV. Think back to when Jason returned from the dead in 2019, and Sonny immediately knew he was looking at the real Jason Morgan. The partners in crime will likely share a warm, brotherly embrace and then get down to business, as viewers eagerly wait for the order to be restored in the PC mob world.
Cyrus’s Meltdown
Cyrus thought he was home free with Sonny dead and buried, and Jason on the run from the cops. While Carly’s been a formidable opponent, he likely believed it’s only a matter of time before he neutralized her and took over the reins of power in Port Charles. When he learns that reports of Sonny’s demise were greatly exaggerated, Cyrus is certain to have a major meltdown. Suddenly, he’ll be back to square one and having to deal with the top dog, Sonny, again.
Daddy’s Home
Sonny’s kids adore him, so watching them all reunite with their believed-dead dad will mean a string of warm heartfelt scenes – be it with #1 son Dante (Dominic Zamprogna), dutiful Michael (Chad Duell), wild and wayward Kristina (Lexi Ainsworth), or little ones Avery and Donna. Stepdaughter Josslyn (Eden McCoy) will likely get into the act, too, since she’s realized how much she loved her stepfather during his absence. General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC.
