Sonny and Carly General Hospital
It might take a few more weeks or even months for it to happen, but when Sonny and Carly’s General Hospital reunion finally happens, there are three key moments we must see.
Since Sonny (Maurice Benard) was presumed dead last December and began living his life as “Mike” in Nixon Falls, his “widow” Carly (Laura Wright) has been slowly, yet reluctantly moving on in Port Charles.
It’s been an emotional time for Carly, who’s still struggling to accept the fact that the man she’s loved for two decades is gone. When she finally finds out he’s alive – and that her arch-enemy Nina (Cynthia Watros) knowingly kept him from her… It’s definitely going to lead to some intense joy and fury.
Tops on the must-see list will be the second Carly lays eyes on Sonny for the first time since being told he was dead. Obviously, she’ll be stunned and think her eyes are deceiving her for a split second.
But when Carly realizes Sonny’s really there before her in the flesh, will she run into his arms, only to be rebuffed because he doesn’t recognize her? Will Carly’s appearance stir something in the amnesiac Sonny, a strange feeling that he simply can’t understand — the blonde from his dream? No matter what transpires, it’s going to be one of the most anticipated scenes on the soap, this year.
Then, of course, there will be the moment where Carly witnesses the inexplicable closeness between Sonny and Nina. She’ll obviously be befuddled, at first. But, knowing Carly, it won’t take long before she puts the pieces together and realizes the pair have forged a relationship during the time Sonny was presumed dead. And that means Nina somehow discovered Sonny was alive and deliberately kept the information to herself without a thought to his grieving wife and family.
As Carly’s rage regarding Nina’s actions builds, she’ll be ready to confront her nemesis head-on. Heaven help Nina when she does. Carly’s sure to blast Nina for her despicable actions – letting Sonny’s family mourn him, keeping him away from his children, duping him into believing she was a trustworthy friend.
Hopefully, Carly’s verbal assault on Nina will culminate with a physical hard slap to her face, because, at this point, Nina totally deserves it. General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
