Sofia Mattsson is best known to soap audiences for playing Sasha Gilmore on General Hospital. The actress has also appeared in The Wrong Husband, My Husband’s Secret Wife, Campus Security, and NCIS over the years.
Mattsson moved to Los Angeles with the dream of becoming an actor, but she also has a certain person in her life to thank for showing her it was all possible. From where she was born and raised to her reality show stint, here are five fast facts about the GH actress.
Sofia Mattsson was born on June 24 in Stockholm, Sweden. She was raised there along with her two sisters, Helena and Mia. Despite having success in Sweden, Mattsson decided to move across the Atlantic to Los Angeles.
Following In Her Sister’s Footsteps
Mattsson decided to move to L.A. because her older sister, Helena, was already a working actress in Hollywood. In fact, Helena moved to California back in 2004 and has appeared in projects like Desperate Housewives, American Horror Story, The Mentalist, Iron Man 2, and Fargo. Mattsson moved to L.A. several years ago and lived with her sister when she first started out.
Reality Alum
Mattsson was a contestant on a Swedish reality show called Dropped. In the show, two celebrities are blindfolded and — you guessed it — dropped in a remote location. They weren’t given any food, a map, or guide, and had to make their way through the area to find civilization.
Her first American TV appearance came in 2013 when she was cast in an episode of Two and a Half Men as the character Inga. In that same year, she also appeared in an episode of NCIS, as well as Total White Guy Move.
Designer
Mattsson and her sister, Helena, started a vegan handbag collection called Ava Carrington. They wanted to create a sustainable brand that was also kind to animals and the environment. They also wanted to make sure to bring their Swedish heritage into their designs. General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
