Social Media Hackers Target Soap Opera Veteran Greg Vaughan

If you follow former Days of our Lives and General Hospital star Greg Vaughan via his social media accounts, you may have seen that there’s one particular networking service he’s taken a break from…and he’s got one heck of a reason why.

Vaughan is far from the only soap opera actor to have dealt with a hacker. Multiple The Young and the Restless cast members – from Eric Braeden (Victor Newman) to Eileen Davidson (Ashley Abbott), and Doug Davidson (Paul Williams) have suffered similar fates.

John McCook, who plays The Bold and the Beautiful’s Eric Forrester, and multiple soap alum Rick Hearst were both impersonated by scam artists who created fake Instagram accounts using their names.

Another sampling of actors who have been hacked, and or impersonated, over the last few years include Ryan Paevey (ex-James Nathan West, GH), Tyler Christopher (ex-Nikolas Cassadine, GH; ex-Stefan DiMera, DAYS), and Stephen Nichols (Steve Johnson, Days of our Lives).

Though it has been some seven months since he was last seen on the daytime scene, Vaughan has remained booked and busy thanks to his recurring role on OWN’s serial drama Queen Sugar.

The actor and former fashion model made his professional debut in an episode of Baywatch and subsequently appeared on the likes of Beverly Hills, 90210, Buffy, the Vampire Slayer, Charmed, and Will & Grace.

But to fans of good old-fashioned soap operas, Vaughan will always be remembered for the three distinct roles that he played – Diego Guittierez (YR), Lucky Spencer (GH), and Eric Brady (DAYS).
