Fans took an instant liking to Holly Sutton on General Hospital, despite the air of mystery in her initial debut.
Holly (Emma Samms) met Luke Spencer (Tony Geary) while skinny dipping on a camping trip, which led to a one-night-stand.
What Luke didn’t know was that Holly set up their chance meeting as a way to entrap Luke so he could help her prove her innocence after an oil scam gone wrong.
Holly was later kidnapped. Luke and pal Robert Scorpio (Tristan Rogers) had to rescue her but the damage was done. Luke felt he could no longer trust her.
Now in love with Holly, Luke left for the mountains but was caught in an avalanche and presumed dead when. However, he was only injured and recuperating in a hospital with no way to tell his loved ones he was alive.
Realizing she was pregnant with Luke’s child, Holly faced deportation but was saved by Luke’s Robert, who married Holly to allow her to stay in the United States. After the wedding Holly suffered a miscarriage. Holly and Robert fell in love through their shared grief.
Robert and Holly were shocked when Luke returned to Port Charles alive. Luke, in turn, was devastated that his best friend and ex-lover had become a tight unit. Holly found herself torn between them, later realizing the only man she truly loved was Robert.
When Luke reunited with Laura and left town, Robert and Holly were free to continue with their life together. Soon, Robert and Holly’s marriage was put to the test when Robert’s ex-wife, Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) arrived in town.
