Soap Veteran Cady McClain Is Setting the Record Straight

Mainstream media has been picking up a lot of soap opera news lately, including the real-life split between soap vets Cady McClain and Jon Lindstrom, best known as Dixie on All My Children and Kevin on General Hospital. However, some reports are omitting a few remarkable details.

And the Daytime Emmy Goes To

Cady McClain is a three-time Daytime Emmy-winning actress. She has a record for winning an award in three different categories on three different networks.

As savvy daytime veterans know, she won her first award for Outstanding Juvenile Female in a Drama Series for her role as Dixie on AMC in 1990. Next, she took home the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series statuette in 2004 for her role as Rosanna on As the World Turns. Most recently, in 2021, the actress won Outstanding Guest Performer in a Drama Series for taking on the role of Jennifer on Days of our Lives.

Great Things Come in Threes

McClain shared the following on her Instagram account about her Daytime Emmy history: “For the record…. I’ve won three. I am the first woman to win for three different characters on three different daytime series. I made history.

“My goal was not to make history, but to never give up on my craft as an actor. This is harder than it sounds.

“I did something remarkable. And I’m proud of it. And now I teach other people how to do remarkable things. And I love doing that.

“These three Emmys mean something to more people than just me. They mean something to everyone who watched the shows or worked on them, too. They are a marker of effort and achievement, and a recognition by one’s peers that one’s effort stands out.

“I am mentioning this because it is somehow being missed in current press, and it matters historically,” McClain concluded.

Of her accomplishment, Daytime Emmy-winner Finola Hughes, nominated this year for playing GH’s Anna, responded, “Pretty spectacular,” followed by the high-five emoji.

The 51st Annual Daytime Emmys are set for Friday, June 7 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS and Paramount+.
