You won’t find Billy Miller on social media much, but occasionally he speaks to us through his manager, Marnie Sparer. Two weeks ago, she posted a pic of the actor as he readied to do work around his house and late last night, Sparer gave us a rare treat — or should we say a rare tweet — a video of Miller checking in from quarantine and paying tribute to a soap legend.
All this week, The Young and the Restless has been airing classic episodes featuring iconic moments with the late legendary actress who played Katherine Chancellor on the soap for more than three decades.
“Hello from quarantine,” Miller says in the video. “I hope everyone is safe and healthy and finding a way to navigate their way through this trying time as best as humanly possible. As you can tell I have the standard-issue quarantine beard and this crazy mop going on [referring to his hair]. It is what it is. It’s a new look,” he continued.
“I hear that we are celebrating the great Jeanne Cooper, one of my most favorite people to walk the face of the earth. I love this woman. I miss her dearly, and I’ll show you.” He then holds up a framed photo of himself and Cooper.
“I keep this photo in my office, it was in my dressing room before. She took a great interest in me and my career from the very beginning at Y&R. She would check on me all the time, call me at home out of blue, and make sure I was finding my way through this crazy business in the best possible way.
“She was the matriarch of Y&R. She truly loved all her fans, everyone she worked with. I miss her. I love her. And I say that we continue to celebrate her and I am glad that you guys are. Again, stay safe, and keep watching.”
Miller spent from 2008-2014 as Billy Abbott on The Young and the Restless. (He was prominently featured in two The Young and the Restless classic episodes shown this week.)
He then went on to play Jake Doe/Jason Morgan/Drew Cain on General Hospital from 2014-2019. Billy has since been recast twice, but Drew was presumed dead in a plane crash so GH fans hope he returns one day. You can hear Miller speak for himself in the tweeted video below.
