Soap Star Kirsten Storms Is Taking Leave After Brain Surgery

 Comments

While General Hospital fans were watching Kirsten Storms perform Daytime Emmy-calibre work this week as Maxie blasted Peter August for his many crimes, Storms was in a real-life hospital recovering from brain surgery.

Kirsten Storms Reveals She Had Brain Surgery

Storms, who is also known for her time on Days of our Lives as Belle, updated her followers on her recent ordeal in an Instagram stories post which Soap Hub has viewed. “So, I’ve not really spoken about this much or at all,” Storms began in her stories. “Less than 48 hours ago, I had brain surgery, hence the neck brace. It was on the lower part of my brain.”

The actress wants folks to know that this was not cancer surgery. “So what they had to drain and remove was not cancer — I want to clarify that right now before the Internet goes crazy wild with rumors,” Storms shared. “I had a very large cyst that had split into two — the doctor said that it was so full, the pressure was very noticeable when they opened up my skull…it sounds so weird [to say that].”

Unlike fake Chloe (Kimberly J. Brown), who did not have Maxie’s best interests at heart, Storms has a capable pal in Emme Rylan (ex-Lulu), who is helping her at this crucial time. “Emme is taking care of me,” Storms says, “until I get to my at-home nurse. It’s been an interesting last couple of days.”

Rylan not only is providing care and shuttle service but is also keeping Storms’ spirits up by assuring her followers that yes, Storms still likes to yarn. “Actually, you look really cute,” Rylan told Storms in the video in which she’s wearing a neck brace.

Needless to say, Storms will be taking a recovery leave and won’t be taping any scenes at GH. “I will be on the mend for the next several weeks,” she says, “but I will be back at work as soon as this is over with. I’m going to knit because I still like to knit,” she adds with a smile.

The Instagram stories recording program kept cutting Storms off so she shared her situation in several short videos, one of which can be seen below. “I feel like [expletive],” says Storms. “So, we’re going to go. Pardon my language, but I think I’ve earned it today.”

Storms adds that she actually had the surgery a few days ago and was recovering in the hospital since then. “We’re not taking me straight home after the surgery,” she adds.

Storms and Rylan recorded some pre-surgery videos but did not get a chance to post them (understandably so). She adds that Rylan not only is providing transportation home but was a wellness advocate for her pal. “She just threw down at the doctor’s office,” Storms shares. “Straight-up street!” Soap Hub wishes Kirsten Storms a speedy recovery.
