The latest Nielsen soap ratings have been released for the week ending November 10. Not one, but two soaps have taken the lead from The Young and the Restless in a coveted demographic.

Soap Ratings Race

The battle for the top spot in the Women 18-49 category took a turn earlier this year when The Bold and the Beautiful nabbed the top spot for five weeks. Last week, two soaps — BB and General Hospital — were the week’s top-rated dramas in W18-49, earning a .49. The Young and the Restless came in third place with a .48. Days of our Lives came in fourth with a .43.

What stories were brewing that helped propel BB and GH? On The Bold and the Beautiful, Hope’s (Annika Noelle) plan to convince Thomas (Matthew Atkinson) that she was interested in him so he’d share custody of Douglas (Henry Joseph Samiri) took a potentially fatal turn when Thomas fell into, presumably, a vat of lethal acid!

Meanwhile, General Hospital was playing out the return of Nikolas Cassadine (Marcus Coloma), while tensions rose among Lucas (Ryan Carnes), Brad (Parry Shen), and Julian (William deVry) over Julian’s machinations.

Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) fell prey to Kendra’s (Michelle Argyris) scheme to get revenge for Alexis’s role in the death of her late brother. Curtis (Donnell Turner) was mystified when DNA tests revealed that Sasha (Sofia Mattsson) and Nina (Cynthia Watros) are related (!).

What was shaking in Genoa City last week? Nick (Joshua Morrow) announced his candidacy for city council. Theo (Tyler Johnson) was grappling with the news that his grandparents are Stuart Brooks (Robert Colbert) and Dina Mergeron (Marla Adams). Billy (Jason Thompson) expressed his distrust of Cane (Daniel Goddard). Tessa (Cait Fairbanks) and Mariah (Camryn Grimes) celebrated their relationship at Society surrounded by loved ones.

In Salem, the drama built to the much-talked-about ‘time jump.’ First, Lani (Sal Stowers) called off her wedding to Eli (Lamon Archey) in order to keep Gabi (Camila Banus) from playing havoc with Julie’s (Susan Seaforth Hayes) pacemaker. Later, Jack (Matthew Ashford) kept vigil by Jennifer’s (Melissa Reeves) bedside following her fall. When she recovered, Jack informed his ‘newlywed bride’ that she’d been in a coma for a year!

Let’s see what soap ratings bring us next week as November sweeps stories continue to play out on screen.
