A bunch of soap opera stars is celebrating birthdays in March. Soap Hub has all the dates, so you can send each and every one of them your sincerest best wishes via Twitter and Instagram or if you like, a good old-fashioned card.
The soap world’s favorite mob boss, Maurice Benard, who plays General Hospital’s Sonny Corinthos, celebrates birthday 57 on March 1. Fellow GHer Kimberly McCullough (ex-Robin) turns 42 on March 5, while vet Jackie Zeman (Bobbie) turns 67 on March 6.
A trio of Days of Our Lives leading ladies will be blowing out some candles, too. Mary Beth Evans (Kayla) toasts her 58th birthday on March 7, followed by Lauren Koslow (Kate), who commemorates her 67th on March 9, and Melissa Reeves (Jennifer), who toasts #53 on March 14.
The mid-March reveling continues with Amelia Heinle (Victoria, The Young and the Restless). The forever young actress celebrates her 47th birthday on March 17.
Back to DAYS, Freddie Smith (Sonny) turns 32 on March 19. Meanwhile, former Salem star Kassie DePaiva (ex-Eve) toasts birthday #59 on March 21.
The month-long partying wraps up with Y&R’s Melissa Ordway (Abby, Y&R). The blonde actress turns 37 on March 31.
Soap opera began in the early 1900s, as radio broadcasts. Soap companies were behind the conception of the daytime dramas because they wanted to sell soaps to stay-at-home-moms. They did their job and also launched a lifelong programming format, the soap operas.
Spanning more than five decades, American sudsers have seen the rise and fall of daytime soaps. In the heyday of soaps in the early 1980s, there were up to 13 different soap operas broadcasted. However, over the years, the number has declined. Currently, there are only four American soap operas on the air.
The four remaining soap operas currently on the air include Days of our Lives, The Young and the Restless (YR), General Hospital (GH), and The Bold and the Beautiful (BB). Check your local listings for air times.
