A bunch of top soap opera stars is celebrating birthdays in May. Soap Hub has compiled all the dates, so you can send your favorite actors and actresses your sincerest best wishes via Twitter and Instagram or go the old-fashioned route and mail them an actual card.
Soap Opera Stars Celebrate
The Bold and the Beautiful’s Ally Mills, who portrays Forrester Creations secretary Pam, kicks off the month of celebrating. She turns 69 and May 9.
Victoria Rowell, remembered for her role as Drucilla on The Young and the Restless, has a birthday, too. She turns 61 on May 10.
YR’s Beth Maitland (Traci) and General Hospital’s Rebecca Herbst (Elizabeth) share the same special day. Herbst turns 43 and Maitland turns 62 on May 12.
Next, up a trio of GH leading ladies, past and present. Constance Towers, who personified evil as Helena Cassadine, toasts birthday #87 on May 20. Meanwhile, Kelly Monaco (Sam) turns 44 on May 23, and Genie Francis blows out 57 candles on May 26.

Darin Brooks, who currently portrays Wyatt on BB and once played Max on Days of Our Lives, is celebrating, too. He turns 36 on May 27.
The partying wraps up with two popular stars going the cake and candles route on May 29. Billy Flynn (Chad, Days) turns 35, and Tracey Bregman (Lauren, YR) turns 57 on May 29.

Soap opera began in the early 1900s, as radio broadcasts. Soap companies were behind the conception of the daytime dramas because they wanted to sell soaps to stay-at-home-moms. They did their job and also launched a lifelong programming format, the soap operas.
Spanning more than five decades, American sudsers have seen the rise and fall of daytime soaps. In the heyday of soaps in the early 1980s, there were up to 13 different soap operas broadcasted. However, over the years, the number has declined. Currently, there are only four American soap operas on the air.

The four remaining soap operas currently on the air include Days of our Lives, The Young and the Restless (YR), General Hospital (GH), and The Bold and the Beautiful (BB). Check your local listings for air times.
