Soap Icon Susan Lucci Recalls Husband’s Citizenship To Honor Fourth of July

 Comments

Susan Lucci is looking forward to the July 4th holiday, as the All My Children legend is once again excited to share a special celebration with her husband of 50-plus years, Helmet Huber.

Susan Lucci Gets Festive for the Fourth

The Emmy Award-winning actress and New York Times best-selling author took to her Instagram to talk about why the holiday is so significant to the couple.

“HAPPY FOURTH of JULY!!!,” the former Erica Kane wrote. “Celebrating our United States of America—and remembering the day my husband became a citizen of the United States of America.”

That day, Jan. 26, 1994, the Austria-born producer officially joined the U.S., and Lucci posted an image of a special plaque commemorating the special day in both their lives.

“He has quite a story and has always had so much love and pride in our country,” Lucci wrote. “The ceremony that day, in downtown NYC—has left a never-ending, awe-inspiring impression on me—looking around that gathering of 330 men and women from all over this world, of every race and ethnic background and walk of life—each with an incredible story of their own—all standing together and taking the oath of allegiance together, pledging allegiance to the flag together—remains one of the most beautiful and moving moments to witness. God bless America.”

Lucci has been enjoying 2021 much more than last year. In addition to being able to see her mom and other loved ones now that everyone is vaccinated, her resume continues to grow.

She’ll soon be seen as a congresswoman whose husband was killed by a drunken driver in Amazon Prime’s upcoming musical series, Wholly Broken, created by Tom Humbert.

Plus, with the All My Children primetime reboot continuing to bandy about, with Lucci’s ex-AMC costars Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos (ex-Hayley and Mateo) as producers, there’s still a great chance she could be popping into Pine Valley once again. Just imagine the fireworks that would bring!
