Brando Corbin. Selina Wu. And, of course, Sonny Corinthos. There are a lot of people in Port Charles that you’d want to have your back in a bar fight. But is there anyone who can be more on your side when you need it than GH’s Olivia Falconeri Quartermaine played by Lisa LoCicero? We think not. For her portrayal of a devoted pal, Soap Hub bestows Performer of the Week honors on Lisa LoCicero.

Lisa LoCicero – Performer of the Week

The week began with Olivia (Lisa LoCicero) passionately trying to convince her pal Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) to let her friends help her so she could hang onto the Metro Court hotel, which Carly lost when a business deal went south. Carly wouldn’t budge which only prompted Olivia to try even harder.

After Olivia inadvertently tipped off Michael Corinthos, Carly’s son, played temporarily by Robert Adamson, as to his mom’s predicament, she realized the guffaw, and then, LoCicero employed what’s known as ‘the rule of three’ in comedy. The actress delivered her trio of lines with deadpan perfection — “You didn’t know. I got a big mouth. Sorry.”

Olivia (Lisa LoCicero) has every reason not to like Drew given him being at odds with Olivia’s husband Ned Quartermaine (Wally Kurth) but that didn’t stop her from telling him not to feel like Carly losing the hotel was his fault. Make no mistake — Olivia backs her husband first and foremost. “I stand by my husband,” Olivia said when Drew tried to point out Ned’s role in the family not reclaiming ELQ. Damn right, she does!

LoCicero brings a warmth and maturity to her role which enables her to also support Drew. “Welcome to the family, Drew,” Olivia playfully said to Jason’s twin as she gave him a love tap on the arm after Drew lamented losing out to the Quartermaines.

The next day, Olivia showed up to do battle wearing a fuchsia power dress. Hands-on her hips, in a way that we thought only Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) was capable of pulling off, Olivia confronted Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros), who bought Carly’s share of the hotel, making her Olivia’s new business partner. Olivia informed Nina that she and Ned would be buying Nina’s share of the hotel with a 5% profit. Nina wasn’t interested, which infuriated Olivia.

Nina, joined by Sonny, made it clear that running the hotel was between the two women. “Wrong! It’s between you and me and our lawyers and it’s going to be a cold day in hell before you ever fill Carly’s shoes — professionally,” Olivia proclaimed as she turned to look at Sonny (Maurice Benard) and pointedly noted to him, “and personally!!” You go, Olivia!

Next, Olivia showed up at Carly’s office (well, maybe Nina’s office now) with flowers. She informed her pal that Nina would be staying on as co-owner but that wouldn’t change their dynamic. Nina “may have half this hotel but she will never have my loyalty, that belongs to you, first, last, and always,” Olivia informed Nina.

Carly may have lost her half of the Metro Court, but she’ll never lose her pal, Olivia. Kudos to Lisa LoCicero for bringing such passion to her role as a wife, mother, and friend. Who wouldn’t be lucky to have an Olivia in their life?
