We can always count on Aunt Stella to get her point across on General Hospital. Her recent interaction with nephew Curtis over his marriage was no exception. While Stella hasn’t always been Jordan’s champion, she let Curtis know that he needs to give his wife another chance. For her performance as a woman who’s both a busybody and a safe and sage confidante, Soap Hub bestows Performer of the Week honors for GH on Stella’s portrayer, two-time Daytime Emmy-winner Vernée Watson.

Stella rarely, if ever, lies. So, when Curtis (Donnell Turner) demanded to know if she had told Portia (Brook Kerr) to back off, Stella replied that she most certainly did! We knew then that there was going to be a back and forth between aunt and nephew as Curtis was going to be given some insights into his personal life — whether he wanted them or not.
While Stella has a career as a social worker, she could always go into law. When Curtis revealed that while he had signed his and Jordan’s (Briana Nicole Henry) divorce papers, she had not. Stella walked away noting that that meant her nephew was still legally wed. Curtis, a grown man, incredulously asked his aunt why was she sticking her nose into his personal life. “Because,” Stella simply replied, “Someone has to save you from yourself!”

Stella told Curtis that she’s known him long enough to know that when he’s hurt, he puts walls up that are pretty high. She pointed out to her nephew that while what he may have with Portia appears simple it is most certainly not! Curtis attempted to leave the table at Charlie’s Pub but Stella stopped him by both putting her hand on his and by using her words. Stella pointed out that Portia has her secrets just like everyone else.
Curtis then made his exit, leaving Stella to wonder if she’d gotten through to her nephew or not. Viewers will have to stay tuned to figure which woman Curtis chooses but thanks to his aunt, he’ll be making a more informed decision. Watson divides her time between Port Charles and on the CBS primetime sitcom Bob Hearts Abishola on which she plays nurse Gloria Tyler. Hopefully, schedules will continue to be coordinated so that Watson can continue to do both series. After all, Bob may “heart” Abishola but GH fans love Aunt Stella!
