It would seem that mayoral election seasons are shorter on General Hospital (GH) than they are in the rest of country. But, maybe that’s what happens when your last election was rigged.
It was only January of 2015 when Nikolas (Tyler Christopher) and Agent Sloan (Grayson McCouch) helped Janice Lomax win the mayoral election over Felicia (Kristina Wagner). Sure, it was fixed, but – what were Felicia’s qualifications again? Aztec treasure hunting? Child abandonment?
It’s a mere three years later, and it would seem another election is on the horizon! Will it be Ned (Wally Kurth) or Laura (Genie Francis)? And do the fans care one way or the other? Here is how over 4,000 of you cast your votes:
Escapist Fun
Real life elections are tense and bring consequences. Port Charles elections are meaningless and fun, decide 55% of you.
And speaking of qualifications, it would seem like both candidates are equally fit for the job.
Ned is a former rock-star turned businessman, with a trail of ex-wives, including a flirtation with bigamy, and a potential First Lady with not one but two sons fathered by mobsters. Two different mobsters. Does that make it better… or worse?
Meanwhile, Laura is a former long-term mental patient with a murder rap on her record, and an ex-husband who already won this office, once, then stepped down when she returned from the dead, right there on the mayoral grounds. So… uhm… it’s a dynasty?
Enough!
Real life politics is bad enough, counter a traumatized 44%. You don’t need to see it on your screen, especially when the race is this much of a snooze-fest. Can we push politics to the backburner–and love in the afternoon to the front?
And if you must have an election, can’t it at least wait for November, like everywhere else in the country? You might as well get it all in one swoop.
