When it isn’t full of mobsters, General Hospital is full of doctors. Kim is one. She chose to tell various people, including Drew (Billy Miller) and Liz (Rebecca Herbst), that her son, Oscar, has a brain tumor. But she declined to tell Oscar.
Only now Oscar (Garren Stitt) knows, and it makes no sense at all to him that his mother would have kept such a secret.
Does that make any sense to the over 11,000 of you who have some pretty strong opinions on the subject?
Is Confusion a Symptom?
For 93% of you, the whole story is a major mess. You’re hard-pressed to figure out precisely which part makes the least sense to you.
But not telling Oscar he’s dying is pretty high up there. He’s not an infant, he’s a young man. He deserves to know, so he can make appropriate plans. Who knows should be up to Oscar, not Kim(Tamara Braun).
And what if Cam beats Oscar to the punch of telling Joss (Eden McCoy)? Now, granted, Joss will make it all about herself, and, in the end, the story will devolve into the pain Sonny (Maurice Benard) is in, seeing Carly (Laura Wright) be in pain over Joss’s pain – because Carly loves with her whole heart, don’t you know?
Reconsider
On the other hand, 6% understand completely about why Kim is keeping secrets – see the above scenario, for starters. And cut Kim some slack! If your beloved only child were dying, you might want to keep it a secret, too – not only to allow your son to enjoy the time he has left but so that it wouldn’t feel so real.
If Kim is choosing to live in her fantasy world for just a little while longer, who are we to judge?
