It’s VERY clear General Hospital’s Sam truly believes the man with Jason’s original face and voice is the one she married back in 2011. She felt his touch and it seemed so familiar, and even Alexis had to keep referring to the other guy who thinks he’s Jason (and very well may be) her “husband.”
And, that’s all Sam (Kelly Monaco) could call him too. She made sure Original Jason (Steve Burton) knew Danny was his by saying “Danny is my son with Jason” by looking him straight in the eye. But, she grabbed her husband’s arm, because he is her husband. And, she loves him.
Now, if this guy is NOT Jason Morgan, then legally he’s also not her husband, but he is the man she’s built a life with, raised Danny with for two years, had a baby girl with, and built a life with. If that’s not husband material, then we don’t know what is. Heck, he even wants to give her a safe life. And well, that’s not quite Jason.
As Scott said, there is who we will now call Bouncy Jason (Billy Miller) around and we love him–and so does Sam. But she also loved and mourned the man she married at that Chinese restaurant six years ago and fought for years to be with.
When they finally came home with a baby boy that fateful night in 2012 and she lost her then-husband hours later, it broke Sam. But, remember, she moved on in many ways. She had a brief fling with Silas (Michael Easton) and almost married Patrick (Jason Thompson)–wanting that safe life, with a doctor, her son and a daughter, Emma.
Over the last five years, we’ve seen Sam become a mother, which is all she ever really wanted. And a mother wants safety for her children. Sure, she just can’t walk away from danger married to a man calling himself Jason Morgan, but what would she have with the man who might be the real Jason Morgan?
As hard as it is for us to choose, it’s even harder for Sam to choose. Sure, she’s just a character on a soap and she will choose whatever is written for her, but if the story is written right, it will be based on character.
Some people change as life goes on–and some do not. Sam seems to have changed, but if the man who seems to be Jason Morgan has not, what does she do? Oh, the drama–and that’s exactly why we watch.
