Should Sam Forgive Franco? Fans Offer Some SHOCKING Answers

When Franco made both Jason and Sam believe he raped her five years ago on General Hospital, the character seemed irredeemable after such a heinous act. (And a heinous act among many.)

Nobody ever expected the character could morph into someone new, with a new actor playing him. When Roger Howarth took over from James Franco, he changed the character completely and GH wrote off all his evil with a brain tumor defense. Once the tumor was removed, Franco began the process of becoming a functioning member of Port Charles society, but Sam (Kelly Monaco) never forgave him. And it seemed she shouldn’t.

Now, Franco is involved with Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst), the mother of Sam’s stepson, Jake. Elizabeth wants Sam to accept Franco, and even get along, but should she? Soap Hub asked if Sam should finally forgive Franco and your answers surprised us.

Forgive and Forget?
Out of nearly 8,000 votes, 48% of you think Sam should take the brain tumor into consideration and let what Franco did become water under the bridge. Yes, it was horrible at the time, but you believe that a physical ailment caused Franco’s actions and he’s proven his worth since the tumor was removed.

Unforgivable
Another 35% think rape or attempted rape (or, in this case, pretend rape) can never be forgiven, no matter the reason. Sam felt violated and was violated and should never forgive Franco or accept him as a part of her life, even in an indirect way.

The Jury is Out
The final 17% are not sure what to think. Roger Howarth has played a reformed rapist before and somehow creates a character you can’t hate, no matter how much you want to.
