Ryan Paevey fans who miss seeing him on General Hospital are getting an early holiday present. The actor is set to star in Hope at Christmas, a Hallmark Movies & Mysteries film airing this week!
In Hope For Christmas, Paevey plays Mac, an elementary school teacher and all-around good guy, a resident of Hopewell, North Carolina.
Enter Sydney (Scottie Thompson) and her young daughter Rayanne (Erica Tremblay), who return home to spend the holidays with her grandparents.
“[Mac and Sydney] have an inauspicious first meeting,” previews Paevey. “She catches him sneaking books into his book bag, not knowing about Mac’s deal with the bookshop owner that they settle up at the end of each month.”
Hallmark movies are known for happy endings and that suits Paevey just fine.
“You’re not going to get gut-punched in the Hallmark universe,” the actor observes. “There has to be a place where things are happy. People say that’s not what the real world is. Nothing is!”
Hope at Christmas puts Paevey in a padded Santa suit, which contained “a whole lot of felt and cotton to make me pear-shaped. It was intense. The suit doesn’t breathe at all. The longer I’d wear it, the heavier it would get. I’d give it back to wardrobe at the end of the day and apologize!”
Paevey is in touch with GH pals Dominic Zamprogna (ex-Dante) and Jeffrey Vincent Parise (ex-Carlos/ex-Joe). While the busy actor isn’t up for returning to Port Charles on a regular basis, he’d love to pop back in for a visit as Zampronga recently did.
“Maybe one of these days they’ll have Nathan come back and ‘ghost visit’ his family,” Paevey muses. “I’d love to come back and see my soap ‘fam’ and my soap fans anytime. If they were to reach out to me, the answer would be yes.”
Hope for Christmas airs on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries with multiple re-broadcasts throughout the holiday season starting Thursday, November 22 at 11 p.m. For additional listings, click here.
