Ryan Murphy’s Grotesquerie With GH Alum Nicholas Alexander Chavez Sets Release Date

Apparently we’re getting Chavez in FX’s Grotesquerie before we see him in Netflix’s Monsters.

Did you know that Nicholas Alexander Chavez stars in not one but two Ryan Murphy productions? The Daytime Emmy-winning actor left General Hospital to film the second season of Netflix’s Monsters, which focuses on the story of Lyle and Erik Menendez, real-life brothers who murdered their parents and currently reside in prison. In other news, Chavez is set to appear alongside an amazing cast for FX’s Grotesquerie, a horror drama that recently received a release date.

Grotesquerie Intel

The ten-episode first season of Grotesquerie will air in two key places this fall. On Wednesdays starting September 25, the series will debut on FX, and the next day, each installment starts streaming on Hulu. Here’s a look at the teaser trailer:

Much like Murphy’s American Horror Story, this eerie project explores humanity’s darker, eccentric side by playing with themes like horror, murder, mental health, and, of course, evil.

The Grotesquerie synopsis:

“A series of heinous crimes have unsettled a small community. Detective Lois Tryon (Nash-Betts) feels these crimes are eerily personal as if someone—or something—is taunting her. At home, Lois grapples with a strained relationship with her daughter, a husband in long-term hospital care, and her own inner demons. With no leads and unsure of where to turn, she accepts the help of Sister Megan (Diamond), a nun and journalist with the Catholic Guardian. Sister Megan, with her own difficult past, has seen the worst of humanity, yet she still believes in its capacity for good. Lois, on the other hand, fears the world is succumbing to evil. As Lois and Sister Megan string together clues, they find themselves ensnared in a sinister web that only seems to raise more questions than answers.”

Is this a hot TV priest alert? Because Chavez is set to play Father Charlie in the series featuring Niecy Nash-Betts, Courtney B. Vance, Lesley Manville, Micaela Diamond, Raven Goodwin, and Superbowl Champion — and Taylor Swift’s boyfriend — Travis Kelce.

The GH alum posted the key art for his new drama on his social media account and ominously wrote, “Nightmare fuel loading… @grotesqueriefx @ryanmurphyproductions

Two of Chavez’s former co-stars have supported his post. Giovanni Mazza (Gio) replied, “Let’s goooooo🔥🔥🔥.” Meanwhile, Tanisha Harper (Jordan) gave her stamp of approval, saying: “🙌🏾 YES!”

Interestingly, FX’s Grotesquerie will premiere before Monsters: The Lyle and Eric Menendez Story, even though the actor filmed the Netflix production first. The ripped-from-the-headlines anthology series should see the light of day later this year.

There’s still no word on whether GH will recast the role of Spencer Cassadine. When last we saw the popular character, he allegedly perished, going overboard and falling into France’s Seine River while attempting to protect his girlfriend, Trina Robinson. Trina is currently grieving this massive loss and trying to find a way to move on.
