Roger Howarth has a brand new role on General Hospital – a mysterious doctor named Austin. So he needs a brand new love interest or, perhaps, a familiar old one. Here are a few suggestions on who the soap should consider pairing him with.
General Hospital — The Obvious Choice for Roger Howarth
The no-brainer answer is Rebecca Herbst’s Elizabeth Webber Baldwin. She and Howarth already proved they have a sweet, yet passionate chemistry and fans gave them their stamp of approval as Elizabeth and Franco. Since Austin will be working at General Hospital, things are set up for plenty of scenes between the twosome.
So far no one in town has commented on how much Austin looks like Franco Baldwin, and Elizabeth didn’t either though he did seem to rub her the wrong way. But she could eventually be drawn to something inside Austin that reminds her of her late husband.
GH: Everything Old Is New Again
Herbst isn’t the only actress on GH who has a storyline past with Howarth. There’s also Maura West. Remember, Franco and Ava Jerome Cassadine once had a torrid affair, and, for a while, he believed he’d fathered her late daughter, Kiki. Igniting an Ava/Austin connection would be interesting. Spencer Cassadine, who’s determined to get Ava out of his father’s life, could be instrumental in pushing the pair together.

General Hospital: From Enemies to Lovers
Howarth’s Franco did horrible things to Kelly Monaco’s Sam, before his brain tumor was removed. As a result, she loathed him with a passion. Perhaps the “hate heat” generated between the two actors could be flipped to fiery passion. Sam McCall’s been floundering since she split with Jason Morgan (Steve Burton), and Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) isn’t the answer. Maybe a hookup with the hotshot new doc in town could be.
Another Notch in Britt Westbourne’s Belt on General Hospital
Free and easy Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) has nothing to lose since her hopes of a future with Jason Morgan were dashed when he announced he was marrying Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright). She promptly segued to Jasper ‘Jax’ Jacks (Ingo Rademacher), but a commitment doesn’t appear to be in their future. Britt might want to explore some other options, and Austin could be one of them. The duo could join forces as she fights to keep her job as GH chief of staff, and ultimately take things in a romantic direction.
