Ric Lansing has spent the last several months on General Hospital trying to convince Port Charles that he has genuinely changed. Still, Ric has reconnected with Elizabeth, mended fences with Molly and Sonny, and even managed a romantic getaway with Liz. Now, while fans keep debating whether Ric belongs with Elizabeth or Alexis, Rick Hearst sounds perfectly happy simply getting to work alongside Rebecca Herbst and Nancy Lee Grahn.

Key Takeaways

  • Rick Hearst says working with Rebecca Herbst still feels special after all these years.
  • He praised Herbst’s natural acting style and onscreen chemistry.
  • Ric and Liz’s reunion already shows signs of future trouble.
  • Hearst called Nancy Lee Grahn an extraordinary friend and talent.
  • He would happily revisit a Ric and Alexis reunion someday.

Hearst Still Feels Like Ric’s Great Love Story

Hearst spoke to Soap Opera Digest about Ric’s complicated romantic history and made it very clear he still loves working opposite Herbst (Liz) after all these years. “Who wouldn’t want to play a love story with Becky Herbst?” he said. “I’d be the first to raise my hand!” Hearst clearly still enjoys every second of Ric and Liz circling back toward each other again.

He also praised Herbst’s natural acting style and the ease between them onscreen. “She’s got such an ease to her as an actress, and we’ve always gotten along great,” He explained, adding that working with her again all these years later feels “really special.”

You can honestly feel some of that comfort bleeding into Ric and Liz’s scenes lately, which probably explains why longtime fans keep getting suckered back into rooting for them despite all available evidence suggesting Ric eventually turns every romance into a small electrical fire.

Unfortunately, the show is already sprinkling warning signs everywhere. Liz recently admitted she thinks things could finally work between them this time, which, in soap language, usually means disaster is warming up the engine nearby. Ric also didn’t exactly look thrilled watching Liz grow closer to Dante (Dominic Zamprogna).

Grahn Gives Hearst Complete Trust Onscreen

Hearst became even more emotional discussing Grahn and Ric’s long, chaotic history with Alexis. “There’s so much history,” he said before calling Grahn “a dear friend, an extraordinary woman and an extraordinary talent.” Unlike Ric and Liz’s wounded-romantic energy, Ric and Alexis have always operated more like two intelligent people weaponizing emotional damage against each other while secretly understanding one another a little too well.

The interview took a surprisingly heartfelt turn once Hearst explained that Grahn reminds him of his late mother. “All of the things that I loved and appreciated about my mother as a woman, Nancy has,” he shared, praising her strength, humor, and playfulness. He also admitted that working with Grahn gives him the freedom to “go anywhere, do anything” emotionally because of the trust they built over decades together.

And despite Ric currently rebuilding his relationship with Liz, Hearst admitted he would absolutely love to see Ric and Alexis reunite someday. “I would welcome revisiting that,” he said. But no matter where Ric’s love life crashes next, Hearst sounds genuinely grateful for both actresses. “I have the greatest ‘work wives,’” he laughed, adding that there is “so much trust and respect” between them.
