Resurrecting The General Hospital Cassadines: Can It Be Done?

Yes, we know Stefan and Nikolas Cassadine are dead, but is dead ever really dead on General Hospital (GH) or any other soap?

We also know that the two actors who played Stefan and Nikolas are over at Days of Our Lives now, with Tyler Christopher ironically (or not-so-ironically) playing a character named Stefan (although pronounced differently than the GH character).

But, here’s the rub. Stephen Nichols and his character Steve Johnson are certainly beloved at DAYS, with Nichols getting his soap start there, but what has Steve really been doing lately except dealing with being blind, which somehow takes away the character’s edge.

And then there’s Salem newcomer Stefan, with Tyler Christopher arriving with much fanfare. The character had so much potential, but getting him involved with the Abigail And Her Alters story the way DAYS did has ruined him. Some fans even claim he raped Abigail when he slept with her Gabigail personality.

So, what if it’s just not working out for these two actors over in Salem.

DAYS has already proven they still have that old chemistry they had when playing uncle and nephew on GH, and we can see them seamlessly working their way back onto the PC canvas–and giving Valentin a run for his money.

Alexis even gave a rundown of her family history to Finn today, mentioning her half-brothers. And Nikolas? Well, he is sorely missed not just as a Cassadine, but as Laura’s son and Spencer’s father.

Of course, Laura and Spencer are off in Europe together, but bringing Nikolas back would be a perfect catalyst for bringing Laura and Spencer back where they belong.

And, while we’re at it, make it a DAYS “switch” extravaganza and bring back Victor and Stavros. Thaao Penghlis’ Andre has been killed again on DAYS, and well, Salem fans all remember when Robert Kelker Kelly played Bo back in the 90s.

Valentin needs a little shakeup and his brother and nephews might be just what the soap doctor ordered.
