Something seemed awfully strange in Friday’s General Hospital when Laura, who the show made a big deal of as a mayoral candidate, suddenly left the race–and left town.
Now, there seems to be a reason for that. According to Daytime Confidential, GH has dropped Genie to recurring status, which means Laura is likely off the front burner, and quite possibly off the canvas for a while since Spencer now conveniently has two broken legs that will take months to recover from.
Francis returned to the soap on contract status in 2015 to help usher off Tony Geary’s Luke. She was promised a huge front burner story and a love interest.
While Laura did find love again, she never truly got that huge story and now we have to wonder how often we’ll see Jon Lindstrom’s Kevin, since most of his scenes have been with Francis for nearly two years.
Francis has been an enormously popular soap actress (and beyond) since the 1970s, and this seems to be a developing story. Soap Hub will bring you more as we know more.
General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
