Recasting Dante on General Hospital? Soap Hub Has Three Top Picks!

Lulu’s been left all by her lonesome self, since Dante Falconeri left General Hospital (GH) and Port Charles on a WSB mission.

The plot move was quickly implemented when Dominic Zamprogna decided not to renew his contract with the soap.

However, the character is going to have to resurface eventually. And if Zamprogna isn’t ready (or willing) to step back in Lulu’s (Emme Rylan) husband, here are three actors who could totally fill the bill as Dante.

Tom Pelphrey
Tom Pelphrey proved he could handle a pivotal role when he was cast as powerhouse Reva’s (Kim Zimmer) son on Guiding Light.

So stepping in as Sonny’s (Maurice Benard) eldest child would be a breeze. Pelphrey even won two Daytime Emmy awards for his efforts as the complicated Jonathan Randall – Outstanding Younger Actor in 2006 and 2008.

Most importantly, during his GL stint Pelphrey shared a fun and fiery romance with Rylan’s Lizzie. In fact, the twosome was even married. Reviving that chemistry as husband and wife again would be effortless.

Marco Dapper
Marco Dapper made pulses race as thug-turned-bartender Carmine Basco on The Young and the Restless. Remember his red-hot affair with Lauren (Tracey Bregman)? Like Pelphrey, Draper also has the advantage of having onscreen history with Rylan.

When she was playing Abby on Y&R, their two characters had a short-lived fling and there were plenty of fireworks between them. Character wise, it would be a complete about face, since Carmine was always on the wrong side of the law, while Dante’s a cop. But Dapper would totally be up to the task.

Jordi Vilasuso
Forget about his ill-fated run as Dario Hernandez on Days of our Lives and think back to Jordi Vilasuso’s stint as Tony Santos on Guiding Light.

The character was tough, but tender – two words that have often been used to describe Dante Falconeri. And Vilasuso played the multi-layered role with an intense passion.

Like Pelphrey, Vilasuso also has a Daytime Emmy on his mantel, having won the Outstanding Younger Actor award in 2003. All of the above would make him a perfect addition the Corinthos clan.
