The Voice Recap: Miley Makes History As The Blind Auditions End For Season 13

This week, the Monday and Tuesday sessions of The Voice provided last-ditch opportunities for the talent to be picked for a team–and for the judges to fill all their slots.

Yes, the blind auditions are over with arbiter Miley Cyrus making history–or, as The Wrecking Ball singer calls it, “herstory”– by building an all female team.

Cyrus picked up her last act, a San Francisco talent named Megan Rose, after she and Adam Levine worked against each other to try and win her over. The former Hannah Montana star went a little over the top trying to convince Rose that she can do the most for her, but that’s the Disney princess’ way on this NBC reality show.

Rose finessed Bobbie Gentry’s country anthem, Ode to Billie Joe, during her blind audition while rocking quite a sartorial statement complete with wide-brimmed hat, Western conch belt, and cutting-edge ensemble of short shorts hidden under a flowing, ankle-length tunic equipped with a high slit.

Another Team Miley member was on stage on Monday, picking her idol (she’s admissted a “lifelong devotion” to Cyrus) over Blake Shelton and Jennifer Hudson after the singer soulfully covered Fleetwood Mac’s The Chain.

Her name is Chloe Kohanski, she’s from Nashville, and she’s got chops. Country chops with a dose of raspy rock–or as she calls it, “psych rock’.

As for the other teams? Shelton gets to work with Dennis Drummond after both he and Levine turned to see a very tall (6′, 8″) talent who conquered the Black Crowe’s She Talks To Angels. WOW! He’s good. Very good.

Meanwhile, Shelton filled his final spot with 19-year-old Kristi Hoopes who sang Heaven, Heartache, and The Power of Love. She looks a little bit hippie and she sounds a whole lot country.

Both nights, Levine was on the prowl while being very picky with who he recruited. Perhaps his strongest team member as of Monday was Jon Mero who chose the veteran coach/mentor over the other three because they seem to share the same jam.

And finally, there’s JHud who had been searching for that last talent to make her team stand out. He came in the form of clean-cut and very cute Jeremiah Miller from Ft. Worth, an 18-year-old member of a Christian rock band who crooned a sweet version of Slow Hands.

The Voice airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8/7c on NBC.
