Nikolas Finally Got Around To Seeing His Son

The General Hospital recap for Friday, January 12, 2024, features Nikolas taking time out of his precious day to see the son he keeps ignoring.

General Hospital Recap Highlights

Also in this episode, Curtis gave Trina good advice about Spencer. Sonny gave Dex killer orders while Joss made a mess of Adam’s life. Additionally, a few slips by Esme proved she knows exactly who she is! Now, let’s dig a little deeper into the details.

Past And Present Problems

Nikolas (Adam Huss) spent the better part of his day hiding out at Ava’s (Maura West) gallery. He wanted to know how her party plans were coming but Ava had big news for him. They didn’t need a shindig to put Esme (Avery Kristen Pohl) in her place, Ava was putting her in jail.

No sooner did Ava spill all the details than Nina (Cynthia Watros) came in. Nik hid while the ladies talked about Sonny (Maurice Benard), and more specifically, why Nina was forced to confess.

Ava was shocked to hear it was all because of Cyrus (Jeff Kober). No wonder Sonny beat him to a pulp! Oh, and about that, hurt people hurt people and Ava wondered how far Sonny would go to take down his victim. Nina ran off to stop that from happening.

Once Nina left, Nik resurfaced and they chatted about his next move. Esme was going down, which was great, and that meant Ace would remain with Laura (Genie Francis). Good, good. That meant Nik could vanish again. He and Ava said their goodbyes.

Meanwhile, Spencer (Nicholas Chavez) spent the day with a worried Esme. She was panicking about the trial and her son and what would come next. Spencer did her best to calm her down and even got her to open up about why she went to Wyndemere.

It was during those talks that Esme slipped up. Not once, but twice and Spencer realized she did remember. Esme denied it but it was clear as day when she called him Spence and not Spencer!

Spencer retreated home to get Ace and take him to the courthouse for a moment with his mommy. He sent away the nanny. Moments after she left, there was a knock. Spencer opened the door and his father was standing there!

Deadly Intentions

Over in Sonny’s office, he called Dex (Evan Hoffer) in for a boss-to-minion talk. Sonny didn’t want to go to jail for assaulting the likes of Cyrus and ordered Dex to do something about it. Not just “something” but the ultimate “something.” He wanted Dex to take out Cyrus once and for all. It’s time for the baddie to swim with the fishes.

Dex was understandably shocked. Well, not really understandably, this is the mob life after all. Sonny pointed out that Dex agreed to carry out dirty deeds when he signed up for this gig. Plus, Dex wouldn’t want Cyrus wandering the streets and hurting Joss (Courtney Fulk) now would he? No. No, he would not.

Reluctantly, Dex headed to the hospital to kill Cyrus. He took a moment to leave Joss a voicemail before heading to the patient’s room. However, he saw Nina at the Nurses’ station and froze.

As for Sonny’s charges, it was a hot debate between Diane (Carolyn Hennesy) and Robert (Tristan Rogers). They debated the case over drinks. Diane was sure a jury would side with Sonny — all things considered. Would they, though? Cyrus was a man of God now and attacked in a church.

As for Joss, she dealt with a whole lot of Adam (Joshua Benard) drama. The teen was a mess and Joss reached out to Kylie, the RA (Resident Assistant). That didn’t go over well when Adam found out. How dare she? And, more so, how dare Kylie set up therapy for him?! What will happen if his parents find out (since they forced him to give them access to his student portal)?!

A Bright Future

Meanwhile, Curtis (Donnell Turner) awoke after surgery feeling great. He was optimistic about his future. He shared with Portia (Brook Kerr) and Stella (Vernee Wilson) that he couldn’t wait for the swelling to go down so he could shoot hoops!

Trina showed up and shared her big news with her dad. Curtis was happy to hear about Paris and urged her to go…without Spencer, of course. Trina didn’t love the idea but she wasn’t about to fight over it.

Once Trina left, it occurred to Curtis that they may not even have to worry about Spencer. If Esme goes to jail, there is no way that young man is getting on a plane and leaving his brother behind.
