In the September 11 episode of General Hospital, Ned had a heart-to-heart with Chase in hopes of helping his daughter. Chase’s anger toward Brook Lynn has hit an all-time high following news of her being the other driver in Jordan and Curtis’ car accident. Ned gave Chase a dose of reality that might not have the outcome Ned hoped.

Key Takeaway

  • Ned was honest with Chase about what divorce is really like.
  • Chase defended where he and Brook Lynn stand following her lie.
  • Ned forced Chase to ask himself an important question.

The Honest Truth

In true Quartermaine fashion, Ned (Wally Kurth) meddled in Brook Lynn’s (Amanda Setton) life and tried to fix her strained marriage to Chase (Josh Swickar). Ned and Chase sat at the Metro Court Gardens and had a very honest conversation.

While Ned understood Chase’s anger toward Brook Lynn, he also revealed the reality of divorce. Ned admitted that he missed out on a lot of his daughter’s life and didn’t want that to happen to Chase with Phoebe (Luna and Lucia Creighton).

Chase appeared swayed by Ned’s words, but that’s not what his voice said. The reality of the situation for Chase was a broken trust.

Not Everything Is Fixable

Instead of arguing with Ned, Chase simply revealed that it would be worse to raise Phoebe in a family built on lies. Chase reminded Ned that Phoebe was his main concern and priority.

After Chase admitted to his father-in-law that he wasn’t sure the trust between him and Brook Lynn could be repaired, Ned asked a question that was honestly something all fans wanted to know.

Ned wondered whether Chase was really mad because Brook Lynn lied to him and tried to frame someone else for her actions, or if his anger was because Brook Lynn framed Willow (Katelyn MacMullen), of all people. Chase didn’t answer as Ned walked away to leave him with that thought.

The One Question Chase Can’t Ignore

For months, Chase has been Willow’s biggest champion and savior, even at the expense of his marriage. Chase constantly put Brook Lynn aside to be there for Willow, and he knows it.

The question Ned asked forces Chase to take a hard look at himself and his real feelings. It has seemed for a while that Chase was looking for any reason to get out of his marriage to Brook Lynn.

Then Phoebe came into the picture. Brook Lynn and Chase bonded over their love for the little girl. It seemed for a while that the old Chase was back and that their marriage was stronger than ever.

Chase needs to figure out what’s really driving his anger. Both he and Brook Lynn have lied in their marriage before; this seems like something bigger. Is Chase’s anger really more about Willow than the lie?

One thing is for sure. If Chase thinks long and hard about what Ned asked, his answer could change the reality of his marriage even more than Brook Lynn’s lie. The GH fall preview hinted that major trouble looms for the couple amid the accident fallout, and it could be the beginning of the end for Chase and Brook Lynn.
