The General Hospital recap for Friday, December 29, 2023, features Lois gossiping her way to the truth. And, oh, what a truth it was!
General Hospital Recap Highlights
Also in this episode, Cyrus gave Nina no good options, Drew came home to Carly, Spencer and Trina planned a future in Paris, and Heather gave her daughter some good (bad) advice. Now, let’s dig a little deeper into the details.
The Truth Must Come Out
Nina (Cynthia Watros) was hard at work in her office when Sonny (Maurice Benard) came to get her for the party. Sorry, work first. Sonny took off to fly solo hoping Nina would make it in time for the fireworks.
No sooner had Sonny left than Cyrus came in. He had a fun few minutes mocking her before she realized she never confessed to a priest…it was Cyrus! Uh-oh! But, what did he want? Was he blackmailing her? No. He wanted something much more dangerous than money. He wanted her to follow through and spill her secret and clean up her mess. Even Nina had to admit it would be better for this intel to come from her at this point.

Over at the party, Sonny arrived just in time to spy Carly (Laura Wright) tearing into Ned (Wally Kurth). And, in time to see Michael (Chad Duell) getting into the middle of the argument. He went on over to break it up. He calmed down Carly while Ned pulled Michael aside and warned him to get his mom to back off.
Also noticing the showdown were Olivia (Lisa LoCicero) and Lois (Rena Sofer). Olivia tried to ignore it, and she tried to get Lois to ignore it, but Lois was enthralled. She started asking all the right questions to get to the bottom of things.
It didn’t take long for Lois to figure it all out. She surmised that Michael had to pay off Ned to take the blame so his dad’s wife wouldn’t go down in flames. One look at Olivia’s face told her she was right.
Oliva begged her to keep mum, but that’s not very Lois. After Ned whisked Olivia off to the fireworks, Lois took the opportunity to talk to Sonny alone. “Your family is lying to you,” she told him. “They’re ALL lying to you!”
A Whole Lot Of Romance
As for Carly, she went home where she was surprised by Drew (Cameron Mathison). What a treat! What a way to start the New Year! They fell right into bed and rekindled their romance.
Also having a surprisingly good end to a stressful day were Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) and Gregory (Gregory Harrison). They were all geared up to take their big jump and boy, was Alexis jumpy. So much so, she almost backed out.
Gregory gave her the pep talk of a lifetime and finally, Alexis was ready. And, once it was all said and done, she was proud she did it. What a thrill! What a life-changing event! She and Gregory were amped up. Gregory took that as his cue to kiss her! Alexis kissed him right back!
Over at the dorms, Spencer (Nicholas Chavez) went to pick up Trina (Tabyana Ali) for the party but got a huge surprise instead. He found a letter on her desk and she explained it was from an art program at the Sorbonne. She applied not thinking much of it. She was wait-listed at first but then, she got in.
Spencer was thrilled for her, but Trina admitted she was reluctant to go. First, she used Curtis (Donnell Turner) as an excuse, then Spencer. Then, she invited Spencer to go with her. He didn’t see why not…as long as he could fly back to see Ace on the weekend.
Evil Mama Knows Best
Speaking of Ace, his mom was seeing her mom. Esme (Avery Kristen Pohl) spent her New Year’s Eve with Heather (Alley Mills). It took all of five minutes for Heather to realize Esme had her memories back. And, even less time to tell her to keep that to herself.
Heather coached Esme to keep her memories under lock and key and keep playing the game. Why not? She has a good life now. Why ruin it. Esme agreed, sort of. Heather gave her a good talk about living a good life. Isn’t it time Esme put herself out there and really lived? Go meet a man!
