The GH recap for Friday, December 16, 2022, features Anna Devane and Valentin Cassadine taking a little time for romance in their new hideaway.
GH Recap Highlights
In this episode, Anna (Finola Hughes) and Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) remained on the run as Anna grew frustrated. Also, Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) broke down after Rory Cabrera (Michael Blake Kruse) was declared dead, Laura Collins (Genie Francis) gave Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Alexander Chavez) the pep talk he needed, Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst) feared that Esme Prince (Avery Kristen Pohl) had escaped, and Ava Jerome Cassadine (Maura West) tried to broker a deal with Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaughnessy). Now let’s dig a little deeper into what happened.
Anna and Valentin managed to make their way from Ireland to The Netherlands and have taken up residency in a windmill as we suppose that is what one does when on the run in that part of the world. Too bad Anna was frustrated that in the time since leaving Ireland, they are no closer to finding Lucy Coe (Lynn Herring) than they were before. She believes they owe it to Martin Grey (Michael E. Knight) to bring her home, yet they have no evidence that she is alive. Perhaps they need to talk to Robert Scorpio (Tristan Rogers) since he knows more than he has told.

Over cheese and wine, as they sat by the fire in their windmill, Valentin told Anna he has a plan. It seems he knows a diamond dealer in Amsterdam who has done work for Victor — and Valentin thinks this person can lead them to Lucy. Since Valentin decided not to seem too anxious and wait until the next day to contact him, he and Anna decided to make love to pass the time. When Valentin told Anna he would get her home soon, she said anywhere with him feels like home. How’s that for some love in the afternoon?
General Hospital Recap: Trina Grieves The Loss Of Rory
There was nothing the doctors could do after Rory coded, and Portia Robinson (Brook Kerr) was forced to tell her daughter that the boyfriend she planned to break up with was dead. Trina became hysterical and ran to the chapel to ask God why this happened. When Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) showed up to comfort her, Trina expressed her guilt at not being able to tell Rory that she loved him.
Laura was on the pier with Nikolas Cassadine (Marcus Coloma) when she learned that an officer was killed, so she rushed to the hospital and was surprised to see grandsons Spencer and Cameron Webber (William Lipton) there. They explained they knew Rory through Trina, and once alone, Spencer told Laura that he blames himself for everything because he brought Esme to town. Laura assured him that doesn’t make him a bad person and reminded him he went to Pentonville to give Trina an alibi.

Satisfied that at least his grandmother believed in him, Spencer decided he was going to stick around Port Charles and give Trina all the comfort she needs.
GH Recap: Elizabeth Freaks Out, Ava Blackmails
When Elizabeth learned that there was venom in Rory’s system, she had to face the fact that The Hook killed the young cop and immediately ran to call Nikolas and warn him he might be walking into a trap. She left a frantic voicemail and then headed out to Wyndemere herself.
When she made it to the tower, she was shocked to see that Nikolas and Esme were happily decorating her little Charlie Brown Christmas tree. Nikolas even brought her an angel for the top. When Liz pulled Nikolas aside, she dropped the bomb on him that Esme couldn’t be The Hook after all.
GH Recap: An Artful Game
At the gallery, Ava was still smarting over the fact that Nikolas handed her divorce papers and told her that Elizabeth is going to have his baby. She broke out her recording of Nikolas confessing to throwing Esme off the parapet, played some of it for Victor, and invited him over.
When Victor arrived, she told him she’d play that in divorce court and make Cassadine family life miserable, but Victor reminded her that they now know Esme is alive, so Nikolas was confessing to a murder that did not happen. Still, Ava warned Victor that she could drag out the divorce or get a much better settlement than Nikolas was offering. Victor told her that he’d see what he could do to make Ava an even richer woman than she already is.
