The General Hospital recap for Wednesday, October 18, 2023, featured Carly putting in an SOS call to Sonny and she updated him on all the news he missed.
Also in this episode, Tracy dropped a bomb on Lois, Curtis nearly broke Portia’s heart, Austin learned Ava’s fate, and Dante was put on administrative leave. Now, let’s dig a little deeper into the details.
Austin (Roger Howarth) was shocked when he got a call to see a patient and that patient was Mason (Nathaniel Grey). He promptly dismissed himself from the case. That didn’t stop him from demanding answers. Eventually, Mason admitted he had no idea where Ava (Maura West) was. She was there when he was shot and then she was gone. That’s all he knew. Austin tried in vain to call Ava to no avail. She was not answering but at least Jordan (Tanisha Harper) finally told him what happened with Ava.
As for Ava, she was hiding out at Carly’s (Laura Wright) house. Carly arrived home to hear all about the ordeal and how Dex (Evan Hofer), Joss (Eden McCoy), Spinelli (Bradford Anderson), and Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) worked together to save Ava. She didn’t like that Joss was involved but what’s done is done. Ava was invited to spend the night while Carly went to call Sonny and see Drew.

Dante also took his leave and tried to question Mason but Jordan shut that down. Not only was he off the case but he was put on administration leave pending the shooting investigation. He sulked home to Sam (Kelly Monaco), who was fresh off visiting Drew (Cameron Mathison), and told her all about it.
Over in Puerto Rico, Nina (Cynthia Watros) and Sonny (Maurice Benard) were deliriously happy on their honeymoon. No sooner had they agreed to leave Port Charles drama back home than Carly called. The news of Ava put a bit of damper on their festivities. That and Cyrus (Jeff Kober) being out of jail. Sonny was shocked to hear all that had happened since he left town. The call effectively ended the trip.
Meanwhile, Lois (Rena Sofer) went off on Tracy (Jane Elliot) for using Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) to her advantage. How dare she?! Just look at how much she’s ruined BLQ’s life. Tracy didn’t think so. She reminded Lois that Brook Lynn did all those things all on her own with her eyes wide open. That sentiment made Lois bitter.
After some more back and forth, Tracy finally admitted the truth. Yes, she strong-armed to get the majority share of the company and used Brook Lynn to do it, but it was FOR her, not against her. Her plan was to now give those shares to Brook Lynn! As for her own payoff, well that’ll be her new 1% of ELQ. Lois was outraged.
Blaze (Jacqueline Grace Lopez) and Kristina (Kate Mansi), however, were having a great time. Kristina made them drinks and they toasted to celebrate Blaze’s Deception offer. There was just one problem, Blaze wasn’t sure she wanted to accept. Yes, she wanted fame, but she also wanted a private life. How can she date when it will be all over the tabloids?
Not having a good time in the love department were Portia (Brook Kerr) and Curtis (Donnell Turner). The couple got into bed and things fell apart. Portia kept promising to love Curtis while he navigated the changes in his life but he wasn’t down for that. In fact, he told her he would probably never be able to love her back the way she needs. Not anymore. Too bad, sir. Portia wasn’t giving up.
