The General Hospital recap for Monday, January 22, 2024, features Esme turning up at the prison to beg for help. And, Heather was more than happy to lend a hand.
General Hospital Recap Highlights
Also in this episode, Chase and Brook Lynn asked Gregory for a loving favor. Spencer defended his terrible decision-making skills. Scott played both sides, while Martin walked away from Lucy. And, finally, Carly got justice, except things went a wee bit too far for her liking. Now, let’s dig a little deeper into the details.
Mom To The Rescue!
Esme (Avery Kristen Pohl) showed up at the prison to see Heather (Alley Mills). She told her about Ace’s kidnapping, her trip to see Cyrus (Jeff Kober), and how Spencer (Nicholas Alexander Chavez) threatened to put her behind bars. Heather was shocked by it all.
She gave Esme the best advice she could — run. Sure, she’ll miss her baby but staying wasn’t worth the risk. Of course, Esme wasn’t about to do that. She refused to leave her son behind. They had to find him and get payback from everyone who wronged her.
Payback? Revenge? That was music to Heather’s ears. She promised to do all she could from her cell. Heck, prison bars never stopped her! However, she warned Esme to be careful and follow suit. Yeah, Esme wasn’t about to do that either. She was going full-out, especially now that she knew Heather was (mostly) on board.

Meanwhile, at the hospital, Spencer got an earful from Laura (Genie Francis) while they waited for the cops. When Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) got there, Laura made Spencer tell on himself. He admitted he handed Ace over to his father, but he had good reasons. Nik (Adam Huss) was a better bet than Esme.
While what Spencer and Nik did with Ace wasn’t illegal, Nik is still a fugitive. Dante warned Spencer to call the police next time he saw his dad, or else! Then, he put out an alert to search for Nikolas and left to find Esme. Later, Laura worried that if Esme had her memories back there was no telling what she’d do.
Sweet Revenge
Meanwhile, things exploded at Crimson when Carly (Laura Wright) and Drew (Cameron Mathison) mocked Nina (Cynthia Watros). This is payback, baby! Carly was as smug as ever as Nina flipped over having the magazine ripped out from underneath her.
Eventually, Drew told her to leave (more than once) and Nina obliged. She ran off and found herself a washroom to cry in. The same one Olivia (Lisa LoCicero) was also in. Much to Nina’s surprise, Olivia was compassionate to her plight and sob story. Once alone, though, Nina vowed revenge on her enemies.
Back in the office, Carly was thrilled to take down Nina but wasn’t so sure about being the editor-in-chief. She told Drew she’d keep the seat warm until he hired someone else. However, Drew didn’t want that. He wanted Carly. She reluctantly agreed to work two full-time jobs (there and Bobbie’s) to please her man.
Speaking of scheming couples, Scott (Kin Shriner) told Tracy (Jane Elliot) all about Lucy’s (Lynn Herring) plot to destroy her. Tracy tried to laugh it off but realized Scott was serious. She wasn’t too worried, though. What damage could Lucy possibly do?
At the same time, Martin (Michael E. Knight) returned and was thrilled to finally see his lady love. Well, until he noticed she wasn’t as thrilled to spend time with him. After some deep thought, he decided to cut ties. Lucy chased him down not wanting to let this love story go.
The Highest Honor
Speaking of love stories, Chase (Josh Swickard) and Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) invited Gregory (Gregory Harrison) out for lunch to discuss wedding plans. They wanted him to not only be there for the big day but take on the role of officiant. Gregory was honored at the thought. He wasn’t so sure about whether or not he could do it, though.
Gregory opened up about how ALS was beginning to affect his speech and he didn’t want to screw up their vows. Chase and BLQ understood his side, but they couldn’t imagine anyone else marrying them. After much discussion, Gregory agreed to stand at the altar with them…as long as there was a backup officiant.
