The General Hospital recap features Esme Prince standing her ground and getting her wish.
In this episode, Spencer was horrified when Esme left for Spring Ridge with his baby brother, but at least he had Trina with him for support. Elizabeth admitted to Cameron that she helped Nikolas keep Esme locked in a tower, but then Cam had a surprise for Liz. Marshall and Curtis got surprising genetic screening results. And finally, Anna and Valentin had new orders for Eileen, and she happily complied. Now, let’s dig a little deeper into the details.
It seems that Esme (Avery Kristen Pohl) does indeed have no memory of what really happened to her, considering that she didn’t go into Esme mode as soon as she was alone with her baby, but she did act like Esme of old when she told Laura (Genie Francis) that she trusts no Cassadine and will do what she has to in order to keep her baby. She admitted that Laura seemed to be nice to her, and Laura told her she understood what it was like to be separated from one’s own child since infancy and relayed a bit about what happened to her when she was about Esme’s age. She tried to tell Esme that prison was no place for a baby.

When Trina (Tabyana Ali) came bearing a baby blanket gift, Spencer (Nicholas Alexander Chavez) informed her of everything. Esme wanted to take the baby to prison, and he couldn’t stand the idea. He also told her Esme had been snowing him since boarding school on Ryan’s (Jon Lindstrom) orders, and she was locked in a tower while pregnant, thanks to his own father.
Later, Esme was finally released from the hospital and took her baby to Spring Ridge, so Spencer watched in fury as they were wheeled away. He tried to give his little brother the blanket that Trina brought for him, but Esme didn’t want it. Laura told her she may need it as the cop wheeled them into the elevator.
Meanwhile, Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) and Cameron (William Lipton) finally caught up on each other’s lives. She confessed what she did with Nikolas and Esme in the tower. It was a lot to digest, but he eventually forgave her, and she couldn’t believe how lucky she was to have a kid so amazing. He told her that he would be going to Stamford on a soccer scholarship. Elizabeth was thrilled for him and felt horrible that she had to dump such awful news on a day that should have been about celebrating his accomplishment.
At the safe house, Eileen (Heather Mazur) told Robert (Tristan Rogers), Anna (Finola Hughes), and Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) that Victor would confide things in her because they were sleeping together. Still, he also wanted her to keep tabs on Laura and what the Port Charles Police Department had on him. He encouraged her political aspirations. Robert made a crack that she should have vetted him, but she pointed out that Victor’s ruthless. She knew Holly (Emma Samms) was the one who shot Lucy. Oddly, Robert didn’t ‘fess up to already knowing this.
Eileen made it clear things changed after the cabin explosion. He really needed the necklace in order to find something — something to do with codes or coordinates, but Eileen wasn’t sure what that something was. Anna wanted her to find out and lay out a game plan (off-screen) for how Eileen should accomplish that.
Prior to meeting with Eileen, Victor (Charles Shaughnessy) sat with Liesl (Kathleen Gati). They discussed having both lost children, and despite Valentin coming later into his life, at least she had reconciled with Britt. He suggested they comfort each other, at least until Scott arrived. Liesl let Victor know she had less interest in seeing Scott than she did him, and he loved hearing that. Just cause she didn’t want Scott around didn’t mean she wanted him to touch her, and she got nasty with him. Smarting from Liesl’s rebuke, Eileen sat across from Victor and passed him her room key — obviously part of Anna’s plan.
Prior to Esme leaving, Portia (Brook Kerr) showed up, hoping Trina was there to see her, but her daughter made it clear she was only there at General Hospital to support Spencer. She did send Spencer away to go talk with Laura so she could have a moment with her mom. Portia was encouraged, but Trina swatted that down, saying she needs more time to come to terms with what her mother did.
Curtis (Donnell Turner) was also needing more time away from Portia. When they ran into each other, before he sat with Marshall (Robert Gossett) during his doctor’s appointment, Portia was upset Curtis hasn’t been home since their wedding night. She offered to stay in the guest room but at least come home. He said he would consider it.
Marshall learned that he has no gene mutation to indicate schizophrenia. Marshall felt defeated and realized that maybe Portia was right to have suggested that he might not have schizophrenia, after all.
