When General Hospital gets around to marrying off Det. Harrison Chase, it’s going to have a tough act to follow! The real-life wedding of Chase’s portrayer, Josh Swickard, was jam-packed with emotion!
Swickard recently took to Instagram and shared sentimental and heart-filled tribute to his grandfather, Arthur Brown, 95, who not only attended the actor’s recent real-life wedding, but he was in it as the groom’s best man!
The actor shared that his grandpa “[s]tarted paying rent to his parents at 14 just to help out. Was on the front lines during WW2 with the 36th Infantry and spent the majority of a year cold, wet, and in a foxhole. Was MIA for a while, shot in the back but the bullet somehow found a can of beans in his rucksack.”
When Brown thought he wasn’t going to survive during the war, he asked that the morphine he was going to be given not be wasted.
“This man has never been drunk nor has he ever smoked a cigarette, and (TMI) he waited for his wife and married at 34,” Swickard added. “He would never tell you any of those details about his life because he never had to prove anything. Grandpa also has more joy than anyone I’ve ever met in my life. And anyone who’s encountered Art Brown will tell you the same thing.”
Swickard says that his grandpa says his secret to life is “Faith. His relationship with the Lord is truly unbelievable. He is the kindest, coolest, richest man I have ever met. It was an honor to have you as my best man, Grandpa.”
