Coming up in Port Charles

Carly (Larua Wright) receives alarming news and tells Valentin (James Patrick Stuart), “I have to go find Josslyn right now.” Trina (Tabyana Ali) may have sounded the alarm when she realizes Joss (Eden McCoy) is suddenly off-grid. Then again, Carly could also be reacting to Valentin reaching out to Nina (Cynthia Watros), because throwing those two women into the same orbit has historically produced enough hostility to power a midsize city.

In her cell, Josslyn says to someone, “You’re planning on killing me, aren’t you?” Which honestly feels less like paranoia and more like solid situational awareness at this point. Whether it’s Cassius (Ryan Paevey) or Pascal (Marc Forget) standing there, one of these poor lackeys has probably realized babysitting kidnapped hostages is a lot less glamorous than Sidwell’s recruitment brochure made it sound.

Cullm (Andrew Hawkes) informs Jack (Chris McKenna), “I’m sorry to disappoint you, but I’m not going anywhere.” Jack may be secretly hoping Cullum takes a nice extended recovery vacation somewhere very far away, preferably on an island without access to experimental doomsday technology. Unfortunately, Cullum seems fully committed to sticking around while the cadre inches closer to building what sounds suspiciously like the kind of weapon that eventually gets half of Port Charles evacuated.

Meanwhile, Britt (Kelly Thiebaud) says to Cassius, “You can’t be naive enough to believe that.” If Cassius admitted what happened with Joss, Britt’s probably realizing this situation is escalating from “bad idea” to “international incident” frighteningly fast. And unlike some people in this story, Britt actually understands what kind of people they’re dealing with once hostages stop being useful.

Elsewhere, Ric (Rick Hearst) tells Ava (Maura West), “You’ll follow this through no matter what.” The interesting twist here is that Ric and Ava may not actually be working against Sonny (Maurice Benard) at all. If anything, this whole arrangement feels more aimed at managing Sidwell (Carlo Rota), especially since Ava has been cozying up to him like somebody trying to keep a live grenade calm with flirtation and cocktails.

And speaking of which, Sonny tells someone, “Ric was planning to stab me in the back.” Sonny may be completely wrong about what Ric’s actually doing, but subtlety has never exactly been his preferred setting. Hopefully these brothers figure things out before Sonny decides “miscommunication” is punishable by waterfront disappearance and a very heavy pair of decorative shoes.
