When news broke that Vinessa Antoine had landed a major gig on a popular Canadian primetime series, fans and industry insiders spent the weekend wondering if the actress would leave General Hospital.
Now, we have the answer. Antoine addressed the subject Monday afternoon and tweeted that during her negotiations for her new series, both herself and GH decided to part ways because they realized Jordan would be gone for way too long.
In fact, Antoine, who was born in Toronto, is making Canadian television history as the first African-Canadian actress to star in a primetime series on network television in our neighbor to the north.
“I’m just very excited to be chosen to do this,” she told TheStar.com. “I think it’s something that’s been long overdue. But everything is changing right now and it’s definitely time.”
Recently, GH put out a casting call for an African-American actress to take on a contract role of a strong female who plays both sides of the law. Could this casting call be for a replacement for Antoine?
If we do see another Jordan in the near future, how will fans then feel about the popular Curtis-Jordan pairing? Only time will tell.
General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
