It’s not surprising that Sonny and Carly are inching their way back to being each other on General Hospital (GH) – but who knew Ava would (indirectly) be the cause?
It wasn’t that long ago that the two were facing off in a divorce hearing, compounded by the fact that Sonny (Maurice Benard) coincidentally slept with Carly’s (super hot!) attorney.
Now, the on-again/off-again duo found common ground in their sympathy for Kiki, Ava’s daughter, who’s in turmoil because her mother is hovering between life and death.
For once, Sonny and Carly (Laura Wright) seem to be on the same page, being torn between wanting Ava to pay for her crimes and their concern for Kiki, who has been involved with both of their sons, even though now she’s with Dillon.
Viewers love seeing Carly and Sonny’s knockdown dragout fights, but their recent scenes in which they tried to process Ava’s predicament and what her death might mean in providing closure were poignant and heartfelt.

Sonny and Carly Forever and “For Ava”!
A whopping 90% of you voted “Yes! They belong together!” So while Sonny and Carly have faced every imaginable and devastating defeat — usually ones involving their children, the people they love most in the world — there’s no denying that this couple has great rooting value and an immensely powerful fan base.
Time to Call it a Day?
A very small faction (6%) voted for “At this point, I don’t care that much…” To be fair, it does seem to be a case of “lather, rinse, repeat” with these two. They break up, make up, divorce, re-marry, and have been doing so for almost 20 years!
An event smaller number (4%) opted to say “No, just end it already!” While this sentiment is also understandable, it is not likely to ever happen.
Many fans want to see Sonny and Carly with other love interests (notably and respectively, Brenda and Jax), however there’s no stopping Sonny and Carly. Even if they end up not being the romantic loves of each other’s lives, they share a bond that is clearly irreparable!
