Performer Of The Week: Kelly Monaco As A STUNNED Sam!

When General Hospital (GH) gives Kelly Monaco something different and emotional to do, she can truly hit a home run and that’s what she did this week as Sam came to the realization that she shot Sonny. For this reason, Monaco is Soap Hub’s Performer of the Week.

We’ve spent the summer watching Sam fall deeper into madness, sure that Sonny was purposely out to destroy her family.

While the far-reaching idea that toxoplasmosis caused her to do what she did made us scratch our heads, watching the actions and Sam’s emotional consequences has been riveting.

This week, Monaco gave us the gamut of emotions from confused to determined, but the scenes she shared with Maurice Benard as both characters came to some sort of terms with what happened brought it home.

GH remembers Sam and Sonny’s long history, first as lovers and then as friends as close as family when Sam cried how he IS her family and she left him in a ditch to die.

Sonny was easily ready to forgive and forget and knew when he was in that ditch that there was no way Sam was herself.

He knew his own mental illness caused him to do crazy things he never thought he’d do. (Not that Sonny doesn’t do crazy things because of his crazy business.)

What’s in character for Sonny is out of character for Sam, and the guilt stayed with her through the week. In fact, we expect her to carry the guilt for a long time and can’t wait to see what Monaco has in store once two Jasons are in town.
