A little bit of Harmony is coming to Port Charles. Actress Brook Kerr, who played Whitney Russell on Passions, has been hired by General Hospital to play a new character on the show.
Brook Kerr: New Doctor
EW first reported that Kerr was checking into GH as a doctor. The actress posted a character name on her own personal Instagram account. It appears she’ll be playing Dr. Portia Robinson. As Robinson is also Trina’s (Sydney Mikayla) surname, it’s likely the two characters are connected. Perhaps Portia is Trina’s mom?
The actress first came to the attention of soap fans as an original cast member of Passions in 1999. Level-headed Whitney, an ace tennis player, was Theresa Lopez-Fitzgerald’s (Lindsay Hartley) best pal. She often tried — with little success — to give Theresa sound advice about her big dreams of landing Ethan Crane (Travis Schuldt; Eric Martsolf).
Whitney had plenty of her own drama; after learning that Chad (Don Swabby; Charles Divins) was her half-brother, Whitney lied that her son Miles was really Fox’s (Justin Hartley; Mark Wystrach) child — not Chad’s — so that he wouldn’t grow up believing he was a product of incest. Fortunately, Whitney found out later that Chad was not her biological relative. (Whew!)
Kerr comes from a two-soap family. Her son, Chris Warren, appeared on The Bold and the Beautiful as Jimmy Ramirez in 2004-05. More recently, Warren starred in Grand Hotel as Jason.
Post-Passions, Kerr has appeared on Westworld, NCIS: Los Angeles, True Blood, and Hawaii Five-O. Kerr’s first GH appearance is set for Thursday, March 5. Tune in to find out just how Dr. Portia Robinson fits into the current stories! General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC. Check local listings for air times.
