When Griffin Munro first arrived on General Hospital, he was a doctor who knew Lucas from med school. Then, we learned he was Duke Lavery’s illegitimate son. Oh, and then we learned he was a priest.
Griffin (Matt Cohen) obviously forgot his Seven Deadly Sins training when he slept with a married Claudette.
And then again when he slept with Kiki (Hayley Erin) minutes after temporarily breaking up with her mother, Ava (Maura West). And then again when he slept with Ava minutes after Kiki ran from the room and her mother showed up in a trench coat and nothing else.
But, it’s the fans who had a tendency to forget about the Griffin/Duke (Ian Bucnahan) connection. For one thing, Duke is dead. For another, Griffin’s erstwhile stepmother, Anna (Finola Hughes) is busy with her own long-lost son, Peter (Wes Ramsey).
But, mainly, it’s because Griffin being Duke’s son doesn’t have much to do with anything.
So is it out of sight, out of mind for over 19,000 viewers?
Easy Come, Easy Go
Oh, yeah, that’s right, 63% of you scratch your heads. Griffin is Duke’s son. Huh. That’s… random. Maybe it explains why Griffin has a tendency to side with Sonny (Maurice Benard) when it comes to Ava getting her daughter back.
It’s Griffin’s latent mob genes. Or maybe it’s just the fact that everyone in Port Charles is contractually obligated to side with Sonny.
Maybe it explains why the Port Charles Police Department was so eager to pin Kiki’s murder on him. They’re still gunning for Duke. Or, they’re merely out of ideas.
Duke’s son? You don’t say…
Always In Our Hearts
Griffin being Duke’s son is the most interesting thing about him, 37% counter. It’s what makes him tolerable, even when he’s waffling between women who are both too good for him.
You would like to see more interaction between Griffin and Anna. Isn’t Griffin interested in learning more about his dad? Maybe we can see some classic 80s flashback – so much big hair!
Otherwise, we’re not quite sure why the writers made him Duke’s son, to begin with.
General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
