Port Charles is a mafia town, no doubt about it. Criminals roam free and we get to know them as more than just cartoonish characters–but also flawed humans on General Hospital.

One such character is Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard), who has ruled the PC crime scene for two decades–and has been defending his territory from the Jeromes the last few years. Now, Sonny and Ava Jerome (Maura West) are both responsible for a horrendous death. One seems to accept his guilt, while the other plans to keep her culpability under wraps.

Ava is without a doubt responsible for Morgan’s (Bryan Craig) unraveling that led to his manic episode, causing him to drink and steal her brother Julian’s car. However, if Sonny didn’t choose to take justice into his own hands and put a hit out on Julian (in the form of a car bomb), his son Morgan would still be alive.

Both characters are guilty as sin and responsible for Morgan’s death, and there is no easy way out of it for either of their consciences.

Yes, our heart broke in pieces for Sonny, a criminal we have loved for years. After all, what parent can handle losing a child? The pain has to be unthinkable and any parent knows it. However, Sonny knows he is culpable–and that Carly (and other family members) may never forgive him. While he did have a come-to-God moment and called the hit off, the bomb was still there because of him.

And yes, a depraved Ava thought she was playing a game when she switched Morgan’s bipolar meds with a placebo. After all, what was the worst that could happen? He’d act off and Kiki (Hayley Erin) would dump him? That’s what she hoped for at least, but playing doctor with medicine meant for mental illness is no joke–and now Ava knows it.

What will happen to Sonny now that he’s seemingly lost everything? And, what will happen to Ava as guilt eats her alive and she covers her tracks? Somehow we can muster sympathy for Sonny (it was his son, after all), but for Ava…how can anyone look at her again? And, how can she look at herself?
