Mobsters, and doctors, and lawyers, oh, my! General Hospital has huge cast, ranging from criminals to the people who try (and fail) to arrest them, to the ones who patch them up when it all goes wrong.
They have heroes and heroines from the 1970s – Bobbie (Jaclyn Zeman)! Scott (Kin Shriner)! Laura (Genie Francis)!; from the 1980s – Anna (Finola Hughes)! Felicia (Kristina Wagner)! – from the 1990s – Sonny (Maurice Benard)! Jason (Steve Burton)! Liz (Rebecca Herbst)! – and their children, like Michael (Chad Duell), Kristina (Lexi Ainsworth), Maxie (Kirsten Storms), and Lulu (Emme Rylan).
That is a LOT of people. And while some are on seemingly every day, others barely get to pop up once a month. Where art thou, Monica (Leslie Charleson) and Mac (John J. York)?
Is this a cast that’s crying out to be pruned? Almost 3,000 reached for their shears.
I Love You Just the Way You Are
The cast of GH is perfect, 54% assert, there is not an extra character on the canvas, no one that you wouldn’t miss desperately. Not even Stella (Vernee Watson-Johnson), whose sole purpose seems to be to stick her nose into other people’s business.
Not even Oscar (Garren Stitt), who keeps threatening to die, but never quite pulls it off. Not even Griffin (Matt Cohen), who is very pretty and… that’s about it. We need them all!
Out With the New
A less content 48% wants to see the cast cut… but you want the newbies gone, not the vets. Why is Oscar (Garren Stitt) literally eating up all our screen-time, while Lucky is nowhere to be found?
Why does Julian (William deVry) know more about their grandson than Bobbie? Get rid of them, and folks like Lucy (Lynn Herring) will get the chance to figure out what exactly is wrong with her Doc (Jon Lindstrom).
General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
