On General Hospital, it started to seem like pretty much everyone knew about Oscar’s brain tumor and his refusal to get treatment… except for Joss, the girl he’d been dating.
Cam (William Lipton) finally spilled the beans and explained why Oscar (Garren Stitt) was keeping his distance. Are you glad there’s no more glossing the truth for Joss (Eden McCoy)? How almost 8,000 viewers feel about it!
The Truth Will Set You Free
Not much ambiguity here, as a head-spinning 98% of you are glad that not only is the truth out there – but Joss finally got some laid on her.
You, of course, don’t blame Oscar entirely. It’s a long-standing soap tradition that, instead of turning to the people they love for support during their darkest hours, daytime heroes and heroines instead nobly push them away… for their own good.
Blindness, paralysis, infertility, or an unnamed mystery illness… all of them are adequate reason for a soap character to go into noble mood and hide the truth.
Oscar may not exactly have been going for nobility. It was more of a self-pity, pouty thing. But he’s a teen, self-pity and pouty are their stock in trade, so trope still applies.
Joss felt confused. But now that she knows, what will she feel?
Tell Me Lies
Perhaps the reason a scant 1% of the audience isn’t thrilled about the development is that Joss, in true Carly (Laura Wright) fashion, made it all about herself. Sure, Cam was sworn to secrecy, but Joss still wanted to know how he could keep the truth from her? Her, her, her!
And, now that she knows, you’re betting Joss will also make it about her, her, her. How dare Oscar not want to stay alive for HER? Heck, she and Kim (Tamra Braun) could team up…
