She was Ryan’s first victim during his latest reign of terror on General Hospital, but the experience helped to win Patricia Bethune a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Performer.
And, she received a very special congratulations — from the actor who played her character’s killer!
Not only does the talented actress who played Carly’s (Laura Wright) tormentor, Mary Pat, not hold a grudge against Jon Lindstrom, since his character, Ryan, killed hers, but in a Twitter exchange, she revealed how much it meant to her playing opposite Lindstrom.
It all started when the actress tweeted the following, “Thank you all for the overwhelming response to my win. This has been an amazing journey. I appreciate your sharing it with me.”
Lindstrom saw her tweet and responded with his own, saying, “You were a wonder and a joy to work with. So proud to see your wonderful work rewarded. Congrats Patricia!”
While that was incredibly sweet and generous of Lindstrom to say, we bet that Bethune’s heartfelt response felt pretty good for the Emmy nominee.
“Thank you, Jon. Working with you was a highlight of my career. You’re the best.” And it’s been quite a career that she’s had, so that compliment shouldn’t be taken lightly.
While her work on GH won her the gold, it’s only one in a long line of incredible jobs she’s had over the years. She’s had recurring roles on Grey’s Anatomy, Longmire, True Blood, and Norm, as well as two-episode stints on shows like Mad Men and Cold Case.
General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
