News Update: Soap Opera Stars Celebrate Juneteenth

Mishael Morgan from The Young and the Restless, along with help from many of her co-stars and daytime friends, including former General Hospital star, Tamara Braun, has created an amazing video to mark the celebration of Juneteenth and combined it with incredible footage from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. — that you just have to see.

Both Morgan and Braun shared the video on their social media accounts. “The I Have A Dream Project,” wrote Morgan in the caption on her Instagram post. “HAPPY FREEDOM DAY!!! This was a passion project that I felt compelled to bring to the world. I hope it inspires everyone to stand up for unity, love and equality. We are more alike than different. Together we can create lasting change. #juneteenth #freedomday #blacklivesmatter #unity #justice #equality #ihaveadreamspeech”

The video begins with the words, “This is an artistic tribute to the great Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. In celebration of Juneteenth ‘Freedom Day.’ This is HIS speech, HIS dream, OUR creative expression.” The footage from Dr. King’s “I Have A Dream” speech is then shown. While he starts it off, it then is taken over by performers recruited by Morgan, including many of her soap opera star friends.

Braun added, “I had the pleasure of being involved with this project. Thank you @MishaelMorgan1 and @TenikaDavis for creating this. #juneteenth #blacklivesmatter #love #equality.” Fellow GHer, Ryan Carnes (Lucas) can also be seen in it along with Brytni Sarpy (ex-Valerie; Elena, YR).

Other YR co-stars who lent their tremendous talent to the project include Christel Khalil (Lily) and Sean Dominic (Nate), as well as Sarpy’s onscreen and offscreen love interest, Bryton James (Devon). They joined people of all ages and backgrounds to recite the words of the legendary speech.
