The Bold and the Beautiful, General Hospital, and The Young and the Restless have been airing classic re-runs for months now due to the coronavirus causing production on new episodes to halt. Soap hopper Ashley Jones, who has been on all three of the shows that are doing rebroadcasts, says the situation has pros and cons.
Ashley Jones And Soap Memories
“In daytime soaps, it’s extremely rare to see reruns,” Ashley Jones (Bridget, BB; ex-Megan, YR; ex-Parker, GH) shared on Instagram. “IMHO daytime has one of the hardest working, longest running crews. New shows are produced every day of the week, 52 weeks of the year. So one of the silver linings I found during quarantine has been reruns. It’s cool to look back and see the journey and classic episodes of daytime.
“More importantly,” Jones continues, “[It’s great] to see the support from you guys. Fans are simply the best. You guys give the LOVE year after year! Thanks for the screenshots you’ve sent as we’ve all gone down memory lane;) who’s ready for new episodes now!!?? #youngandrestless #boldandbeautiful #generalhospital #MemoryMonday #Megan #bridgetforrester #parkerforsyth.”
The good news is that CBS has announced that The Bold and the Beautiful is returning with new episodes starting Monday, July 20. YR is set to return to production this week if things go according to plan. General Hospital is reportedly working on getting back to the studio next week. DAYS, which has original episodes already shot that will take the soap through some time in October, is reportedly going back to the Burbank Studios where the show shoots in September.
So, while new episodes of BB are on the horizon, it’s possible that Jones will still be seen in occasional re-broadcasts of YR and, possibly, GH, too. Check out Jones’ post below which shows her throughout the years from her career in soaps, which began in 1997 on YR.
