Will General Hospital Recast Michael? Frank Valentini Weighs In On Chad Duell Leaving

News that Chad Duell is leaving General Hospital stunned viewers. They want to know if GH will recast Michael. The soap’s executive producer, Frank Valentini, has weighed in on the possibility.

Valentini took to X (formerly Twitter), to confirm that Duell was leaving the show. He also talked about the possibility of recasting the role of Carly (Laura Wright) and Sonny’s (Maurice Benard) son (we know that Sonny adopted Michael and AJ was his biological father).

“I am sad to confirm the news of Chad Duell’s forthcoming exit from #GeneralHospital. I have loved working with Chad over the years and wish him nothing but the best. He is a terrific actor and will be missed by everyone at #GH,” Valentini wrote on the social media platform.

“There are no plans to recast his role at this time, but you never know in daytime. I can promise a great story for Michael and his family when Chad exits in the new year.”

Valentini sent the message after speculation about a recast started as soon as news of Duell’s impending exit hit. The Young and the Restless alum Robert Adamson (ex-Noah) recently stepped in for Duell as Michael, and some fans wondered if he might be a possible recast for the role.

Fans immediately worried that GH might kill off Michael, and they pointed out his importance to the storylines in Port Charles.

“The character Michael is essential to the GH story. Please find a recast and don’t even think of killing him off….,” one viewer replied.

Another hoped Duell might return soon. “I hope Chad comes back when he can and feels like he’s ready. Michael has been such a key figure in GH history, and it will be sad to not see Carly and her Mr.Man.”
